Spend Locally: Constellation Cat Cafe
UPDATE (June 25, 2021 at 1 p.m.): Constellation Cat Cafe is celebrating its 700th adoption!
According to a press release, “After a challenging year filled with uncertainty, the staff at Constellation are reflecting with gratitude on the many people who came together to find forever homes for 700 cats in the Mid-Michigan area. From the countless volunteer hours to the network of fosters who care for the cats prior to the cafe to the donors who make sure cats have food, litter, and other essentials, it truly takes a whole community to do this work.”

Pet adoption rates have increased during the pandemic as more people look to add furry friends to their families. Locally, Constellation Cat Cafe is ready and willing to help transition your newest furry family member into your household and can serve you up a cup o’ joe, too.
Located at 3320 East Lake Lansing Road, Constellation Cat Cafe is part cat adoption agency and part coffee shop. For some, this combo is an absolute dream come true. Patrons can reserve cat rooms, where they’re able to play with the adoptable kitties.
Constellation General Manager and Adoptions Coordinator Mary Allen spoke about what this business has to offer for gift ideas.
“Right now, we have some cute (or creepy depending on the person) cat stockings that we are selling for people to either buy for their own cats, or they can sponsor a stocking for an adopted cat that has toys, food, and a blanket. We also have a rotating selection of enamel pins that are a huge hit,” she said.
The cafe also sells their own original merch, with hoodies, crew neck sweaters, long-sleeve and regular t-shirts, ranging in youth to adult sizes.
“There is a wide variety of pins, and a whole section for Michigan artists and products like granola, earrings, stickers, pins, and more,” Allen said.
As the adoptions coordinator, Allen said every customer interaction she has is a memorable and enjoyable experience.
“Being able to find homes for rescue cats really gave my life meaning,” she said. “I love meeting adopters and matching them with a cat that will enrich their life.”
The cafe is accepting donations on their website, and their merchandise is also available online here. On their Facebook page, the café is currently running a “12 Days of Catmas” promotion, with different daily deals on gift cards, merchandise, and more.
Constellation Cat Cafe is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
