‘Concerning Social Media Post’ Leads to ELPS Closure

East Lansing Public Schools are closed today (Wednesday) because of a concerning social media post.

According to an announcement on the official East Lansing Public Schools Facebook site, the district was made aware of the post this morning. “While there is no direct threat to any specific school building,” the announcement says, “the post does direct a threat to ‘East Lansing.’”

All school buildings are closed “Wednesday, March 8, 2023, to allow time for ELPS and ELPD [East Lansing Police Department] to gather additional information and investigate.”

District officials say they will communicate additional information later today.
