ELi’s Andrew Graham Appears on WKAR to Discuss Council Race
ELi’s City Desk Reporter Andrew Graham recently spoke to WKAR’s Sophia Saliby about the Nov. 2 election for East Lansing City Council. The segment will air today, Oct. 21, at 4:44 p.m.
Graham spoke to Saliby about some of the more unique factors about this race, including that all of the candidates in the race will be first-time electees to City Council. Two candidates – Dana Watson and Ron Bacon – currently serve on Council, but were appointed in 2020 to fill vacancies left by the resignations of Mark Meadows and Ruth Beier.
Dan Bollman, Chuck Grigsby, George Brookover, and Adam DeLay will join Watson in the race for the two available four-year seats and Mikey Manuel will compete against Ron Bacon for the one available two-year seat.
Graham also addressed the main issues in the campaign as well as the role of students in the upcoming election.
Graham, who has a Bachelor’s of Science in Broadcast and Digital Journalism, spoke to the ELi team about the experience.
“I enjoyed talking with Sophia about the Council race and appreciate the opportunity to share some of the reporting I’ve done with ELi,” he said. “And personally, it was neat to go on the local NPR station I grew up listening to.”
