Here Comes a New City Council, East Lansing
It’s Election Day in East Lansing, with the City Council races being the only items on the ballot. Voters will be seating a majority of Council, with three seats open.
ELi will be bringing you results when they come in tonight, but in the meantime, if you’ve already voted, you might enjoy listening to the latest edition of the East Lansing Insider podcast, where ELi City Desk reporter Andrew Graham and I talk about this election in the context of City Council elections past. (Which means some laughing and some great stories.)
If you haven’t already voted, you can get to the polls until 8 p.m. (You can even still register at the City Clerk’s office, but if you’re going to do that, do it early to ensure you get it done.)
Want to know more about your choices? ELi has brought you an extensive voters’ guide that gives you links to all kinds of nonpartisan information, including campaign finance analyses, comparison of candidates’ takes on big issues, and videos from the candidate forums hosted by the League of Women Voters and ASMSU – forums informed by questions solicited from voters by ELi. Check it out!
If you appreciate having ELi here to help you actually know things about the candidates beyond their mailers, now’s a great time to support our nonpartisan public news service for East Lansing with a financial contribution! We have matching dollars through Dec. 31, so we can see your gift double right now!
