Michigan Flyer Partners with Hytch to Shuttle Riders from Homes to Pickup Site
As a reliable, inexpensive and convenient way to get to and from the Detroit Wayne Metropolitan Airport (DTW), the Michigan Flyer has long been an important service for residents of the Greater Lansing area.
As of June 20, Michigan Flyer is partnering with a rideshare company, Hytch, that will offer a minivan to take passengers between their homes and the Flyer’s pickup site on Albert Avenue outside the Marriott hotel in downtown East Lansing.
According to a press release from the Michigan Flyer, the partnership with Hytch was initiated to help accommodate community members who may not be able to find transportation to the Flyer pick-up sites. This can aid many community members, including those who live outside of walking distance, families who may not have access to a car and people with disabilities.
East Lansing is the first Flyer site to begin working with Hytch. If the partnership is successful, the company plans to expand to the Brighton and Ann Arbor Michigan Flyer locations as well.
Interested passengers can purchase tickets for a Hytch minivan while buying their Michigan Flyer tickets on the company’s newly updated website. The minivan offers pickup and dropoff services within a four-mile radius of the location of the Albert Avenue site and aligns its pickup times with the Flyer’s schedule. The service includes an option to have a wheelchair accessible minivan.
The press release said Michigan Flyer hopes this service can provide its customers with another layer of convenience and accessibility while also creating a more environmentally friendly transportation option that reduces the need for single occupancy vehicles.
