ELPD Looking for 5 Suspects in Cell Phone Store Robbery
NOTE: Shortly after this article was published, the City of East Lansing sent out a correction saying that “No weapons were seen and no weapons were indicated” in this robbery. This article has consequently been corrected.
Five suspects robbed a cell phone store on the 1000 block of Trowbridge Rd. this morning, according to the East Lansing Police Department.
There is an AT&T store at 1030 Trowbridge Rd. in the first floor of the Trowbridge Lofts building.
“An employee of the store reported that five suspects entered the business and demanded all phones contained within the store’s safe. The employee complied with their demands and the suspects were able to steal an unknown number of cell phones from the safe. No weapons were seen and no weapons were indicated. The suspects left westbound from the scene in a red Chevrolet Equinox with an undescribed sticker in the rear window. No one in the store was injured as a result of the robbery,” read an updated ELPD press release.

East Lansing Police provided this security camera image of a vehicle believed to have been used in a robbery attempt in Trowbridge Plaza on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020.According to the press release, all five of the suspects were described as Black males between 14 to 17 years old, having “proportional builds” and being between 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 5-feet, 10-inches tall. Four of the suspects wore black or grey hoodies with dark sweatpants and face masks. The fifth had a red hoodie and a light colored winter hat on over long black hair. He also wore a face mask.
