Multiple People Injured in Shooting at Abbot Road Apartments

Alice Dreger May 16, 2021August 18, 2023

The East Lansing Police Department reports that early this morning, just after midnight, a shooting occurred in the 6000 Block of Abbot Rd. and that “there were multiple victims from the gunfire.”

An ELPD press release posted to Facebook indicates that “This act of violence does not appear to be random in nature, and there is no ongoing threat in the area.”

WILX reports that the shooting occurred in “The Quarters” complex. There are two complexes called “The Quarters” in East Lansing, one north of Lake Lansing Road and one south. It appears from WILX’s reporting that the shooting was at the complex north of Lake Lansing Road.

Multiple police and fire agencies responded to the situation, according to the press release. It appears that no Nixle alert went out on this incident, and the City has not issued any statements beyond the press release posted to Facebook.

This is a breaking story and we will update the story as more information becomes available.

Note: When posted, this article had incorrect information about the location. (The ELPD press release contains information only about the general location.) This article has been updated.
