Police Action in Area of Loree Drive Explained (and Updated)
ELi received a report this afternoon of intense police activity on Loree Drive in East Lansing. Contacted by ELi, at 3:13 p.m. ELPD Captain Chad Connelly indicated by email, “There is no active shooter,” as had been rumored.
He also said that three suspects had been apprehended in that area, for an alleged crime in Livingston County.
Loree Drive is west of Abbot Road about a quarter-mile north of Saginaw Street. (It is in the general area of Reno’s East and the fire department, but off the other side of Abbot Road.)
A Nixle alert issued at 3:12 p.m. indicated that ELPD has been on Loree Drive assisting officers from Livingston County and Michigan State Police in “reference to an Armed Robbery in Brighton. No weapon indicated, but possibly seen on one subject’s person. A pursuit of the suspect vehicle ended on Bainbridge Ave.” in East Lansing. “Three subjects are in custody, one is possibly still outstanding.”

Update, 7:15 p.m.: ELPD issued a press release saying that ELPD “assisted the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Michigan State Police, Michigan State University Police Department, Meridian Township Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and the Brighton Police Department in the apprehension of three subjects involved in a robbery of a cellphone store in the City of Brighton at approximately 1:17PM today.”
The suspects came westbound on I-96, pursued by Livingston County and Michigan State Police officers. Then, “The pursuit was terminated prior to entering the City of East Lansing” by Livingston County and Michigan State police.
Police used GPS to pinpoint the stolen cellphones in the area of the 500 block of Bainbrige Ave., in East Lansing. According to the press release, “Officers located the vehicle in the robbery and a foot pursuit of the subjects from the vehicle apprehended three individuals” in the 300 block of Loree Drive.
The three suspects were turned over to the sheriff’s deputies from Livingston County.
