Together, We Are East Lansing

Beth Peck December 3, 2024December 10, 2024

Dear Friend of East Lansing,

At East Lansing Info (ELi), we’re more than a news source—we’re your news source. Over the past 10 years, we’ve built something truly special: a community-driven cooperative that brings our neighbors, students and leaders together through the power of shared stories and vital local news. ELi exists because of you—your voices, your stories, and your support.

We tell the stories that matter most to East Lansing because this is our home, and we know that no one can tell our stories better than us.

In 2024, we’ve covered everything from city government to local school updates, economic development, arts and sports—information that keeps the heart of East Lansing beating. Our mission is rooted in the belief that everyone in our community deserves access to accurate, nonpartisan and free news. We run on your generosity, so that all of us can stay informed and connected, regardless of the ability to pay.

Your support makes this possible. And starting today on Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your help to keep it going.

Double Your Impact: The Power of NewsMatch

We’re thrilled to share that through the national NewsMatch program, every dollar we raise up to $15,000 by December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar. This means that your gift today will go twice as far in supporting ELi’s mission. Even better, if you commit to a monthly donation, NewsMatch will match your total annual contribution—turning $5 a month into $120 of impact.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Make a one-time gift: Your donation will be doubled, dollar-for-dollar.
  • Set up a monthly donation: A recurring contribution makes a big difference.
  • Share our campaign: Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to join in supporting

ELi.

We provide all the ways you can donate at this page. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so all of your contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law. You will receive a receipt in January for all contributions to ELi in 2024.

With every article we publish, every question we answer and every story we share, we are reminded of the incredible value of a news cooperative that belongs to all of us. Together, we tell our own stories. Together, we keep East Lansing informed and connected.

Your Contribution Builds Community

When you support ELi, you’re doing more than funding local journalism—you’re investing in the future of East Lansing. Your gift enables us to provide the independent, reliable news that keeps our community strong. We believe in the power of shared stories to bring people together, and we’re committed to making sure East Lansing’s voices  – your voices – are heard.

To learn more about the different ways you can donate, including one-time and monthly donations, IRA distribution, stock donation and more, visit ELi’s donation page. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to our year-end goal and strengthens our ability to serve you.

Thank you for being part of this incredible East Lansing community and for believing in what we do. With your help, we can continue to tell the stories that matter most to all of us.

With gratitude,

Beth Peck
